First one: GLUTAMINE
I've been trying out various supplements for some time, and there are a few I believe everyone over 40 should use, even with a diet rich in protein and vegetables like mine.
First of all, I wouldn't go without Glutamine. I've been taking it for over a year, and it's fantastic.
What is Glutamine and why it is importante to supplement?
Glutamine is a conditionally essential amino acid important for various physiological functions. While the body produces it, demand increases during stress, illness, or intense exercise, making supplementation beneficial for athletes, post-surgery patients, and those with specific medical conditions.
It is a key building block for proteins necessary for muscle repair and growth. Intense exercise can lower glutamine levels, leading to muscle breakdown and longer recovery times. Supplementation helps replenish these levels, enhancing recovery and athletic performance.
Glutamine also supports the immune system by fueling immune cells, which fight infections. During physical stress, the body's demand for glutamine rises, and supplementation can improve immune function.
Additionally, it maintains gut health by fueling intestinal cells, preserving the gut barrier and preventing issues like leaky gut syndrome, which aids digestion and nutrient absorption.
Research indicates glutamine may help with conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, cancer, and critical illness by aiding recovery and reducing inflammation.
In summary, glutamine is crucial for muscle recovery, immune health, and gut integrity, making supplementation beneficial during physical stress.
From my experience with it, I appreciate the gut health benefits the most. My immunity is excellent!
